As some of you already know, a man jumped off the Vincent Thomas Bridge to his death. He landed on a container about 20 yards or so from the scanners we have to drive through. We were doing load outs, so that means we had to drive thru the scanners and pass the body every time we took a container to the train. And every time I passed by I couldnt help but look over and then wonder, what made him do it? How can shit get that bad where you feel you have to take your own life? Did he jump then realize he made a horrible decision? Did he run out of his medication yesterday? Did he have a child dying and need a donor to survive? Well thats the only reason I would consider suicide is if one of my girls needed my heart so they could live on. Other than that I think its a cowardly way out. All the people he probably owed something to and left them hanging. I knew a few too many people that took the cowardly way out of life just so they dont have to deal with the shit they created. If I sound insensitive, sorry about that, my mother was a coward too. Shit happens, so deal with it, the right way and live!
