As some of you already know, the President of Columbia Theological Seminary, Steve Hayner, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He and/or his wife Sharol provide blog updates. This man has been through massive rounds of heavy chemotherapy. Yet in the post today they quoted another author to whom is unknown to me. I just thought it was deeply profound and am sharing it with you tonight: The burden of suffering seems a tombstone hung around our necks, while in reality it is only the weight which is necessary to keep down the diver while he is hunting for pearls.
