As some of you know I am a bit of a history nut. I have tracked the Whittle family name to the mid 1600s here in America and have recently trace them to Ireland. However there were a couple of names I could not piece together to make it 1 bloodline in the Whittle name. In the process I found several Whittles on the Mississippi Choctaw rolls. I spent two days in Southeast Mississippi looking for Catherine and Bessie Whittle . No joy no clues. All I had to go on was their fathers name M.C Whittle. I had read a story about a Civil War veteran and his wife Grandpa and Grandma Whittle in the Confederate Veterans Home in Ardmore Oklahoma. All I had to go on was Grandma Whittle born in Georgia in 1812. The last 2 days have been visiting old cemeteries all over south east Oklahoma. The first picture is the picture of the Confederate Veterans Home in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Score! All I needed to do was go to that cemetery and I would find grandma and grandpa Whittle..... You guessed it, the home does not have its own cemetery. I found a Civil War veteran buried in Utica.... I thought crap Im done Utica New York. Who knew there was a Utica Oklahoma 20 miles from the Veterans Home. I not only found M.C Whittle and Susan Whittle aka Grandma and Grandpa , but hit the jackpot. I found Catherine and Bessie Whittle who are the granddaughters of Grandma and Grandpa Whittle. ... And the missing link M.C Whittle. C.M is M.Cs son and Catherines husband. They are all buried in Wolfs Creek cemetery Utica. Oklahoma. C.M married Catherine who is full Mississippi Choctaw. Catherine and her sister Bessie and their children are on the roll of the 5 Civilized Indian Tribes in America. ( The Mississippi Choctaws refused Andrew Jacksons order for the Trail of Tears to Oklahoma and stayed in Mississippi) Six days 22 cemeteries 1 veterans home 3 states. Fall bike fest in Panama City Beach FL, family and friends reunion in Geneva, Alabama and a week of chasing dead relatives...... 4947.7 miles and one dead laptop. .....NOW. ...its .....time to head North West. A couple thousand miles to go. Ps. Please take all in consideration while spell checking. ....
