As some of you know, I spent about twenty years studying the history of science, particularly its cultural interface with religion. I discovered so many myths about the negative stance of Christianity vis-a-vis science. The often-repeated accusation of Christianity trying to silence and squelch scientific progress is blatantly false except in the case of Protestant fundamentalism. But there are many examples of people today who are trying to silence the voice of reason. And these attempts at silencing come from distinctly non-religious and even anti-Christian sources. Can you think of any?
