As some of you may or may not know my beautiful granddaughter, Serenity, is a 22q child. She has Velo-Cardio-Facial Syndrome. Simply put, she was born without her 22nd chromosome. Most people have never, and will never, here of this even though it is the next syndrome under Down Syndrome! We have been blessed that she hasnt had a lot of the horrible affects of this syndrome. Most children are born with cleft lips and pallets, very serious heart conditions, and a multitude of other physically and mentally disturbing side affects. She does however have abnormalities in her nose and throat which affects her speech. She has learning disabilities, but loves school! She just received the coveted Student of the Month trophy!
