As someone who enjoyed my time competing in the Miss A system, I have to agree with a lot of the points John makes. Pageants are fun. Do them if you want; spending time publicly supporting your platform and nonprofit are awesome (and the best part of being a titleholder), but when the largest provider is scholarships requires an expensive evening gown and publicly lies about how much money there ACTUALLY is available, we have a problem. Miss A, take note. That being said, I met some of the most amazing women I know competing in pageants and Im so glad that John took the time to acknowledge that the women competing are actually smart cookies. Itd be really easy to take a crack at the women competing when its the system (and how it presented itself this year) that needs the overhaul.
