As soon as Frank Lampard turned down Chelseas offer of 1 year - TopicsExpress

As soon as Frank Lampard turned down Chelseas offer of 1 year extension at 100k p/w, several meetings were held to discuss his potential replacement. Marina Granovskaia, Jose Mourinho, Michael Emenalo, Ron Gourlay and various other board members took part in a series of meetings. Mourinho initially recommended Paul Pogba or Koke as his candidate while Cesc Fabregas, Modric, Ivan Rakitic came up from others. The final shortlist consists of Koke, Pogba and Fabregas. One last meeting was held in last week after the club inquired about Koke, Pogba and Cesc. Koke has a €60m release clause, Juventus told Pogba will be sold for atleast €66m while Barcelona were willing to sell Cesc for €33m. Fabregas was finalized as he has past PL experience and was considered a less risky buy given that he is available for half of the value of other two candidates. Jose Mourinho and Cesc are ready to work with one another. Both the club and manager regard Cesc as a much more feasible buy. Cesc Fabregas joining Chelsea is imminent. Only paperwork left. Cesc is expected to take his favourite #4 jersey as it is available after Luizs departure. Hope you understood.
