As soon as we get home, Alec slams the door before leaning against the back of the small couch, making him face the hallway. “I hate him, Brand.” “No you don’t.” It’s true. Even if he wants to, he doesn’t. It’s his dad. Alec looks toward the floor. “He’s going to hate me when I tell him.” I walk over to him, and stand between his legs. Setting my finger under his chin, I tilt his head up. “He doesn’t deserve you if he does. Not you. You’re the best person I know.” Alec sighs and grabs my waist. I step even closer and he drops his forehead to my chest. “I’m going to miss this when you go. I’m going to miss you.” I wrap an arm around him. Thread my hand through the back of his hair and hold him to me. “Me too.” ~RUSH
