As spring nears, let us celebrate farmers who are sprouting new farm businesses across Iowa. Practical Farmers of Iowa newly enrolled Savings Incentive Program (SIP) Class of 2015 beginners show great promise as they follow their passions in diverse enterprises. Over two years in SIP, this group will develop close relationships with an experienced PFI farmer mentor, attend PFI events to learn from other farmers and save money regularly for their business while completing or maintaining farm business plans. Upon completion of the program requirements, PFI will match their savings $1 for $1 (up to $2,400) towards the purchase of a farm asset.
