As stated near the end of the article, the rosary is not a prayer - TopicsExpress

As stated near the end of the article, the rosary is not a prayer or worship to Mary; it is a prayer /with/ her. Like children to a parent, we pray, or ask, our Mother to change Dads mind and grant us what we seek. It is asking Mary to help us, to intercede on our behalf. Like parent to a child she has said Do this and I will help you, like giving the child a special request of work to fulfill in order for the child to receive a raise in allowance. The work is light and the reward great, if it is done correctly. Even if it is blessed, the rosary itself is just a tracking system, like a calendar, which we use to keep track of our prayers so we dont get distracted or lose our place during the recitation, for it is easy for even the most devoted mind to lose track here and there. The rosary in itself does not possess special power, nor do the words of the prayer. It is not a charm or a spell, but should be a plead from the heart, like a child to their mother when they want something so very much. A plead from the heart for the true health of the material body, and a plead from the soul for spiritual guidance. Mary and Jesus have both asked us to pray the rosary on numerous occasions across the centuries, and the rewards are great indeed when it is done correctly. If you find yourself falling asleep or slowing down, or distracted by other thoughts, steel yourself and focus even more on asking for Gods help, dont be afraid to ask Mary or God to help clear your mind in the middle of a prayer. These are Satans footholds within you being shaken and destroyed, and he is trying to distract you from the prayer so he can maintain those grips. Be strong, but do not be afraid to ask for help. That is the whole basis for the rosary; that we ask Mary and Jesus for strength in /all/ things, in matters big, small and personal. The rosary is a reminder that we as humans cannot do everything ourselves, it is a tangible way of getting us to ask Jesus to lighten our burdens, as He has told us He will, only if we open ourselves to the fact that we need help just as Simon assisted Jesus with His cross. We are physical as much as spiritual, and the rosary is the material reminder counterpart to the spiritual reminder of prayer.
