As the Ebola cases in Dallas continue to draw media attention, Central Texas medical experts KVUE talked to distinguished facts from fears, in an attempt help clear up some confusion and better answer questions about the potentially deadly virus. Its just that rare, said Eric Higginbotham, M.D., the Pediatric Emergency Medicine Division Chief at Dell Childrens Medical Center. He says while theres certainly reason to be concerned about Ebola, its important not to let that distort reality, he calls it availability bias. You hear it, so thats what you worry about, said Higginbotham. These other things that are much more scary and can hurt you, we dont hear about as much, but theyre there every day.
