As the President of the Consumer Council, I seek to represent the needs and opinions of all consumers in ShelterCare programs throughout Eugene and Springfield. This includes initiatives such as partnering with other community non-profits, including Habitat for Humanity, Mind Freedom, and others, to further mutual goals. Also, we advocate on a local and state level for consideration by lawmakers when making their decisions about budgets and programs. Currently, Im assisting in a time of multiple, system-wide transitions to keep consumers informed, and ensure that our voices are heard and considered as decisions are being made that will govern the future of the organization as a whole, as well as individual programs.
