As the Scots seriously consider severing the ties with Great Britain by declaring independence in this months referendum, they are receiving an unwelcome lesson in economics. The Scots apparently think that by declaring independence, they can start off with a clean slate and not accept their share of Great Britains national debt, much of which is the result of Scotlands destructive and costly welfare state. The English are warning them that starting out life in severe bankruptcy isnt a good beginning for any nation... our own country started out that way, and we only survived because of Alexander Hamilton and the genius of the Framers. I rather doubt if Scotland has anyone of that caliber available at the moment. H/T Phi Boehmke
