As the Tibetan reminds us in Esoteric Astrology, the sign Leo becomes highlighted as we approach the Aquarian age because Leo and Aquarius are opposites. The new astrology teaches that the opposites must merge and blend, become as one. And this applies both individually and, more importantly, macrocosmically. The ancient teaching from the Bhagavad Gita encapsulates this point in the well-known passage in which Shri Krishna exclaims, “Having pervaded the entire Universe with a fragment of Myself, I remain.” The universal (Aquarius) and the particular (Leo) blend and meet in the light of the soul, which is the particular light that is related to Leo. This soul light is undying, eternal in the heavens and shed abroad on earth. God transcendent and god immanent, permeate each atom of substance as well as the macrocosmic whole. As the energy of Leo pours into the planet during this period in the annual cycle, there naturally occurs a powerful stimulation because it partakes not only of its own potent triple sun alignment of energies but also of those qualities, rays and planetary rulers that are hovering over our planet as a consequence of the entering age. The Leo festival also brings an influx of second ray energy from the powerful overshadowing star Sirius, “the brilliant star of sensitivity,” which is so important to our spiritual Hierarchy and which flows into our planet each year at this time. These inflowing energies naturally tend to upset the established order of things and bring to the surface those conditions that are in need of healing and resolution prior to the externalization of certain members of the spiritual Hierarchy of the planet. Leo brings a touch of the “fire of love” the energy that the coming World Teacher will release. This love breaks down the walls of separation and unites all things at the fundamental level of spirit. Through the Hierarchical ruler of Leo, the sun veiling Uranus, this sign aligns with the seventh ray Uranian impulse of Aquarius. Uranus awakens the urge to improve conditions, to work out the will upon the physical/etheric plane. This energy awakens the will aspect in the masses of humanity as well as within those individuals who are approaching Triadal stimulation.
