As the Union President of the Hospitals RN local I always sought to right injustices, fight for a better and safer working environment etc. Countless hours of my off work hours were spent on the phone with the Fantastic Randy Davis (President of SEIU).I also was involved in the political arena spending countless hours down at the capital testifying and meeting with Senators and Representatives to advocate for better staffing and a safe work environment for all employees at my place of employment I was blessed to have the opportunity to weigh in on Hospital plans and ensure that our Members were informed and aware of changes. All of this work took away from my personal life and time with my family. I realized that it was taking a toll on my mental and physical health so I stepped down. I am still having a hard time letting go of the advocacy piece. My wonderful boss knows of my struggles and sent me something that I will share with you all in my next post. It really struck a cord in my heart and made me realize that my stepping down was the absolute right thing to do. Thank you Dena for being a fantastic boss and truly caring about those you supervise. You are a shining example of what a manager should be and I aspire to be more like you when I decide to make the jump into management again.
