As the article correctly states and powerfully illustrates, our education system is heavily influenced by those who lack perspective and are not held accountable - i.e., test-makers, legislators, lobbyists, and others, many of whom have never sought to teach anyone anything in their lives, let alone a classroom full of students. Education needs to be inspiring and relevant, preparing students to recognize their strengths and proclivities and equipping them to apply themselves in ways that provide them with meaningful engagement with the world around them in such a way that other people are given something that makes their lives better than they would have been without it.
