As the current year comes to an end, we naturally find ourselves - TopicsExpress

As the current year comes to an end, we naturally find ourselves looking back examining our conduct. We do a self-assessment to determine how well we did or if we failed in some areas of our lives. That can be a good thing. The Bible teaches that each person is responsible for his own behavior. The Old Testament teaches that when we have sinned we should “. . . EXAMINE OUR WAYS AND TEST THEM, AND LET US RETURN TO THE LORD. (Lamentations 3:40 NIV) A young boy walked into a drug store and asked to use the telephone. He asked the operator to give him a certain number: Hello, Dr. Anderson . . . do you want to hire a boy to cut the grass and run errands for you? Oh, you already have a boy? Are you completely satisfied with the boy you have? . . . OK then, goodbye, doctor. As the boy thanked the druggist, the druggist said: Just a minute, son . . . if you are looking for work, I could use a boy like you. Thank you, sir, but I have a job, the boy replied. But didnt I just hear you trying to get a job from Dr. Anderson? No, sir, said the boy, you see, Im the boy who is working for Dr. Anderson. I was just checking up on myself. It might do us all good to check up on ourselves once in a while to see if God is pleased with us. SEARCH ME, O GOD, AND KNOW MY HEART; TEST ME AND KNOW MY ANXIOUS THOUGHTS. POINT OUT ANYTHING IN ME THAT OFFENDS YOU, AND LEAD ME ALONG THE PATH OF EVERLASTING LIFE. (Psalm 139:23-24 NLT)
