As the day comes to an end we say goodbye to one of our beautiful gems early tomorrow morning....a happy goodbye of course! Sapphire, one of our non-releasable loggerheads has found a permanent home at The Living Coasts Discovery Center near San Diego, California where she will continue the rest of her life as a sea turtle ambassador. In the past few days Turtle Hospital staff have been preparing Sapphire for her long day of travel via FedEx by shining her shell, touching up her weights with another coat of marine epoxy, and building her travel crate for her long flight to the opposite coast.
