As the election draws closer, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi is morphing into a fountain of bizarre quotations. Over the weekend, she warned that if Republicans win back control of the Senate, “civilization as we know it will be in jeopardy.” For the record, the last time Republicans held the Senate was in 2007. Has the world really become MORE civilized since then? Rep. Pelosi also sent out a tweet, calling on Republicans to back punitive laws on corporations that move overseas. She wrote, “An American family can’t just change their address to avoid paying taxes.” Actually, they do it all the time. A recent study of Census data found that over the past decade, 225,000 people a year on average have moved out of Nancy Pelosi’s own home state of California. Many of them were young families, moving to places like Texas to escape job-killing tax laws. And, of course, the politicians who create them.
