As the last week has gone by, I have been doing a lot of reflecting on just how my life has played out. I celebrate my marriage today. 40 years. It has been quite a journey. No wedding dress, no diamond, no big wedding. A quick ceremony, and then on to life as a married young woman. A child on the way, and trying to finish school. Jobs, babies, lean times. And, would I live those times again. Yes. Would I change things? No. I have been gifted a life filled with the love of my family. Because we had little money, we had little dreams. We wanted enough to feed our family, enough to have a roof over our heads. We spent time raising our kids, and working on our farm. We raised animals for food and birds for eggs. We spent time working together. Some of that time was spent grumbling at just how hard the work was. But, we did it. We built a life for our family the only way that we knew how. They say that opposites attract, and in our case...... that is the truth. But, we always had a common goal. And, that goal was the carrot that kept us going. We certainly have faced some very difficult times...... The loss of our business was painful. The diagnosis of our daughters cancer being the worst. The loss of family members well loved and cared about. But, there have been moments of absolute joy as well. The milestones of our children, firsts, such as first words, first steps, first days of school, graduations, college, military, engagements, weddings, grandchildren, and then watching life repeat itself for them. I am blessed. This I know. So, I would say that 40 years is a long time to spend with someone, and Mr....... I love you. Thanks for all of the good times, and all of the happy moments we have shared. Thanks for our life together, and thanks for our children. It doesnt get any better than that.
