As the new school term begins moms all around have this one big question: What to put in their childs lunchbox that is healthy as well as appealing at the same time! First of all get a couple of cookie cutters. These will help transform the boring sandwich into something new and exciting. Kids will be motivated to eat their sandwiches when they see star, heart, flower etc shaped sandwiches in their lunchbox. 2. French toast can also be cut using cookie cutters to make it more interesting. For added health benefits dont forget to add cinnamon to your french toast. 3. Home made whole wheat muffins are a great choice as you can make them in bulk and freeze them. Whenever you need one just pop one in the microwave and plop in your childs lunchbox. You can add various fruits like bananas, dates, pineapple, coconut, raisins, almonds and even veggies like carrot, zucchini to your muffins to sneak in some extra vitamins and antioxidants. Stay away from white flour and white sugar. Instead use honey and fruit as a sweetener in your muffins. 4. Make homemade granola bars. They are easy and healthy. 5. Oat bran cookies are also a great idea. 6. Whole wheat pasta salad tossed with some chicken and veggies like tomatoes, cucumbers depending on your childs taste. 7. Whole wheat pancakes can also be made and frozen and taken out whenever needed. 8. Instead of using store bought chicken spread avoid all the preservatives and artificial flavors by making your own version. Just mix boiled shredded chicken with mayo, cream cheese, salt and pepper. You can add finely cut cucumbers also if your child likes it. 9. Give as much raw fruits and veggies. Apples dipped in salt and lemon juice wont go brown and will stay fresh till lunch time. Other ideas include cucumber sticks, carrot sticks, plums, grapes, raisins, almonds, walnuts and unpeeled bananas. 10. Boiled chickpeas with just a dash of salt and pepper make a great protein packed snack. You can try hummus also if your child has a taste for it. 11. Boiled egg sandwiches or salad. Eggs are crucial for the brain development of little tots. Try to include eggs in as many forms as possible. 12. Mini pizzas made using brown bread or brown pitta bread. This is also a great way to sneak some veggies in the topping. 13. Cheese sticks. 14. Lastly make sure you have a lunchbox with compartments so you can put in different things without them mixing up.
