As the only Massachusetts member on the House Armed Services Committee and working in conjunction with my colleagues on the Commonwealth’s Military Task Force, I have seen an extraordinary opportunity to foster partnerships between our military installations and the innovative small businesses throughout this region. Today’s Small Business Forum with the leadership at Hanscom Air Force Base helped shed light on ways in which local small businesses can best compete for contracting opportunities with the base. Massachusetts companies attract some of the best minds and talent in the country and Hanscom is developing cutting edge technologies that are helping the Air Force address some of its most pressing challenges. Altogether it makes for a strong environment to grow and support small business innovation research and small business growth while also connecting our unique military installations with incredible local talent and innovative ideas. I want to thank Hanscom for continuing to engage with the local business sector and appreciated the opportunity to speak with members of the small business community this morning at the Forum.
