As the winning streak continues, so does the hunger to remain as one of the division’s top teams. The Bradford Bulls lit up the ice at both away games on Oct. 19 and 20 against Powassan and the Halton Ravens. Saturday’s matchup was close but fierce. After a scoreless first period and two power play advantages for each team, both the Bulls and Powassan were eager to make their mark first. It was the Jakub Pejsa of the opposing team who slipped a fast one past the Bulls’ defense a mere 3 minutes into the second period. Just past the 10 minute mark, Bradford struck back with a great goal by Daniel Gowans, assisted by Verneri Pellinen and Dalton Mills. Austin Cline wrapped things up in the third period, after scoring the game-winning goal assisted by Nikita Litviak, pushing Powassan aside to take the win with a final score of 2-1. After a promising start to the weekend, the Bulls hoped to continue their dominance on the ice against the Ravens – and were able to do just that. Jacob Bauchman got things started with the first goal of the night during a power play, assisted by teammates Dalton Anderson and Iiro Leppanen. Fellow teammate Brandon Hughes quickly followed with a second goal at 12:02 into the first, assisted by Leppanen and Bauchman. The Ravens managed to utilize one of their power play advantages, leaving the score at 2-1 after the first period. But the Bulls continued to fight, with another two goals in the second period by Pellinen and Leppanen – assisted by Gowan and Sergey Shchenkov. The Ravens managed one more goal in the second, but fell to the Bulls after a goal by Litviak in the third period – capping the game off with a 5-2 finish and sweet victory for our team. In recent weeks, the Bulls have maintained a strong team presence on the ice – especially during home games. The boys have easily defeated every opponent who steps onto the rink, giving the obvious impression they intend to continue their hot streak throughout the season. The Bulls will once again hope to maintain their title on Wednesday, Oct. 23 at Bob Fallis arena against the Toronto Attack. Puck drops at 8 p.m. By Brea Bartholet
