As these graphic photos show, the City of Brunswick is currently destroying trees and shrubs within the legally-protected marsh buffer and tidal waters along route 17 North heading toward Brunswick from Jekyll in order to provide tourists with a better view of the marsh. In an effort to halt this ill-considered beautification project, environmental advocate James Holland has sent these photos and others to local and state authorities along with an account of how the destruction of protected marsh vegetation will impact the health of the marsh and marine life that relies upon it.
