As those of us in the USA celebrate the birth of our nation today, the following thought was what is on my heart. As you read through this, take the time to see if you are working to help ensure that wherever you live, that your country is working to serve and honor God as His possession. Todays Thought~ Possession of God or Possession of the World Today’s message comes out of Malachi 3:13-18. In this piece of Scripture, Malachi is relating the words of God to a disrespectful nation. This passage called out to me as it is very much relevant to much of todays society. Here we see how the people have spoken harshly against God and how the people believe that serving God is useless. However God remembers those who truly and humbly follow Him and honor Him. The Lord will listen to those who have that reverential fear for Him. For those of us who do this and have a high regard for His name become His possession. As Malachi 3:17 states They will be mine, a special possession on the day I am preparing, says the Lord. “I will have compassion on them as a man on his son who serves him. It is here that we see the book of remembrance. So the question we have to ask ourselves is who possesses us? Is it the world and its false and sinful teachings, or do we belong to God and His pure and holy love? For to many self-proclaimed Christians this question is not an easy one that can be answered. I pray that as you read this you can honestly say that you are Gods possession. Therefore as you go about things today keep this piece of Scripture before you and when others speak out harshly against the Lord God, take the time to peacefully and tactfully rebuke them and do so in love so that they may return to the Lord and on that last day their name can be found in the list of those who are Gods possession. Seek out the lost and the blinded, and help to bring to them home. Let not the wickedness of the world overcome you and thus claim possession of you. Amen
