As usual, at times like this, macam-macam hadith and fatwa keluar. Alhamdulillah, my arwah mummy who raised us up single-handedly, never used the rotan or pinched or beat or slap any of her kids when we were growing up; no matter how stressed she was. And orang cakap dia macam-macam especially yang banyak duit and she was nothing but a miserable clerk. The worst she ever did was the silent treatment and that went right into the core of my being.
