As we approach 2015, were looking back at this past year, and the many moments that defined our programs and initiatives. 2014 was a significant year for #culturalheritage. Architects, scientists, students, and government agencies around the world joined forces to document Afghanistans Ghazni Towers through state-of-the-art technology and a virtual exhibition. The U.S. Department of State and the American Schools of Oriental Research (ASOR) signed a $600,000 cooperative agreement to comprehensively document cultural heritage sites in Syria and assess the future restoration, preservation, and protection needs for those sites. And Secretary of State John Kerry highlighted the destruction of irreplaceable cultural heritage taking place throughout Iraq and Syria in remarks at the The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. Ancient treasures in Iraq and in Syria have now become the casualties of continuing warfare and looting, he said. Each artifact tells a story – a human story, our story. #YearInReview
