As we approach this upcoming week it is a bitter reminder of the last days we had on this earth with Emma. Next Monday (2/2/15) will mark the 3rd anniversary of her tragic accident. Most people are thinking of the upcoming Super Bowl or perhaps whether the groundhog will see his shadow. Emmas family will never see this time of year the same again. My last memories are of her at Zoies birthday party that Sunday before her accident on Thursday. Robin had postponed the party just so Emma could be there. They had out of town plans on the weekend she had previously looked at for the party. I remember Emma laughing and shrieking at the top of her lungs. Anyone that knew her had heard that ear piercing shriek she could make. 😉. I didnt know until later that Eric, Kim, Houston, and Emma had gone home that evening and watched the movie Courageous together. How ironic that as they watched together none of them knew they would be living the same horrible storyline in just a few days. Unfortunately my very last memory is not a happy one. Mike and I had been to eat at Ninos and were heading home that Wednesday night. I came so close to asking him to swing by Eric and Kims on the way home so I could see the kids....but I didnt. I knew it was late and it was a school night. I didnt want to get Emma all stirred up before bed and then leave. She loved company. So I went home and then began Thursday as always. It was around 5:40 that afternoon that I received the call that would change our lives forever. I would never get another chance to swing by and see sweet Emma. 😢. Dont wait...dont put off the things you want to say or do. It may be your last chance. Oh how I wish I had that Wednesday night to do over. I would love for everyone that knew her to please share your last memories of her too. Or just share any happy memories of her. Lets honor her and remember that sweet smiling girl as she would want us to. 👼
