As we celebrate a New Year there are few people very unfortunate. I went to Aishbagh yesterday to see the Kashmiri Migrants surviving somehow, here in Lucknow. In conversation with different people for about an hour, I can say that their condition is really pathetic. About 800+ people, with about 500 children and women are staying there in camps, deprived of food, proper clothing and without any security in this chilling cold, where so many are sick. They manage through donations which the younger ones collect across the city. As city is on high alert today, they were prohibited to roam in the city to collect donations. God knows what this continuous rain in the city have had for them today. Mr. Nadeem Ali, the head of the committee representing the migrants told me how their properties of crores were lost just in few hours. But sitting in their camp, i realized there is lots of Love and Coordination among the people. They might not have eaten for the whole day still they offered me tea, rice and curry ( i took only tea) to eat. They showed me the contributions they received from different colleges and NGOs. As my college opens, I look forward to see if any contribution can be made from my college also. Sometimes even to live is an act of Courage.
