As we celebrate the holiday season it is interesting to observe how Believers attempt to combine heathen traditions and worship of the LORD into one celebration. Being reared on an island with little to no connection with the outside world probably gives me a different perspective than most people have concerning these things. I am not in any way condemning anyone for their combining the traditional festivities and the celebration of the birth of our LORD, Jesus. While driving thru the burg where we are staying currently, I was struck by the gross inaccuracy of the manger scene depicted on the lawn of the First *^~#$? Church on the main street thru town. There in large plywood figures are not only barnyard animals but wise men at the birth scene. Is it any wonder that the church has lost its impact in the world when it cannot even tell the story of the birth of the Savior correctly??? And it came to pass, in their being there, the days were fulfilled for her bringing forth, and she brought forth her son--the first-born, and wrapped him up, and laid him down in the manger, because there was not for them a place in the guest-chamber. (Luke 2:6-7 Youngs Literal Translation) He was laid in the manger not a manger! Jesus was not born in a barn!!! The angels in announcing His birth told the shepherds, and this is to you the sign: Ye shall find a babe wrapped up, lying in the manger. (Luke 2:12) It was a particular manger, not just a manger! The shepherds knew the manger and where to find it without being told. And the wise men did not have Lear jets to burn across the sand and show up that night. It took them nearly two years...read the story! If you are going to combine the two festivals please get the Biblical part correct! The world is watching....BE a witness! We declare love, joy and peace in your life thru the fullness of grace. Donna. Clay, Alexis, Taylor, Theophilus and I wish each of you a MERRY CHRISTMAS!
