As we celebrate the season of Pentecost and the mighty gift of the Holy Spirit, may we also remember that it is He that does the heavy (heavenly) lifting for believers of Jesus. Remember it is His compunction and gentle prod that softens a calloused heart! It is He that impresses an obstinate soul to reconsider his error, and He is the one to illustrate and illuminate the Word and empower the wordsmith! The Holy Spirit, the great companion, counselor and GPS for mankind, yes we strive, calculate, strategize, and even evangelize in our power and we face natural barriers and road blocks. Why? Simply...we didnt yield to the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit. This personal submission challenges intellectual reason and logic and the trust requires child- like faith! In Acts 2 we read about Pentecost and the power from Heaven that swept down on the disciples. The people that saw what had occurred were astonished and began to ask questions and speculate. Peter, stood up empowered and filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke to the people. He reminded them of the Old Testament prophecies about the coming of the Holy Spirit. Then he talked about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Ever wonder what the a Gospel is? The Gospel is Jesus Christ, His death and Resurrection. A very simple sermon, yet look what happened... The crowd became sorrowful for their sins and they asked the Apostles, What shall we do? Peter said to them, Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38-39). May we all be encouraged that we are not left to rely solely on our own devices and ingenuity! We have the great abider, comforter, and empowerer that will do the heavy lifting as we trust Him and walk in His anointing. Luke 4:18 18 “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free. Thanks for letting me share, Randy Young
