As we come to the end of 2014 it is time to reflect on all the wonderful and exciting things that we had happen with the Griffin Foundation. We kicked off the year with the Pageland Pageant EXPO. We had so many wonderful young ladies come and learn from the best in the industry. We had Cyrus Frakes “the KING OF CROWNS” here to make sure the young ladies in this town were ready to win those crowns. April was a busy month for us. We sponsored the Pageland City-Wide Yard Sale… IT WAS HUGE. The Town was alive and packed with people from all over coming to shop, spend money in Pageland at our restaurants and take home a lot of treasures. We took the Griffin Beauties to Kershaw to the Red Shoes Event, a fundraiser to raise awareness of Child Abuse. We also hosted an Easter event at the Senior Nutrition Center bringing the Easter Bunny, gifts, treats and baskets for all the seniors. In May we took a team to Relay for Life, started rehearsals for Miss Pageland and of course took some personal time for our annual Cinco de Mayo party! June was PAGEANT MONTH… We took 5 girls to Miss South Carolina Forestry Pageant and returned with 2 State Title Holders! We had one of our Griffin Beauties capture the Miss Central Title! On June 14th, we hosted the Jewel of the Pageants in this area, “The Miss Pageland Pageant”. We crowned not only 4 girls with Pageland USA titles, but we crowned 4 girls with Hartsville USA Titles and then while attending the Watermelon Pageant, we found 2 girls to send to South Carolina representing Lancaster. On July 4th, we hosted a Celebration at the Senior Nutritional Center. The Griffin Beauties performed patriotic songs, dance and poetry and then served Ice Cream Sundaes! The Griffin Beauties spent a very long day cleaning up, cleaning out and landscaping the Municipal Center. We hosted a Queen’s and VIP Breakfast prior to the Pageland Parade for in town and out of town guest. We enjoyed a wonderful Watermelon Festival with the Griffin Beauties working in the Pageland Chamber of Commerce Tent. In August we traveled to Tifton, GA for 2 of our Griffin Beauties to compete in the National Forestry Pageant. Both our girls were incredible with our Miss taking 2nd Runner up receiving a $10,000 scholarship! In September we partnered with the Town of Pageland to do a total remodel on the former Boy Scout Hut for the Senior Nutritional Center. Griffin Foundation took the task of interior repairs and the Town took the exterior. Oct was busy getting the house ready for Halloween! We had over 21 clowns that performed entertained and SCARED guest for Trick or Treat! In November we hosted the 4th Pageland Christmas Shopping Mall. We had over 40 local vendors and businesses participate this year. It was an incredible event. Mid November the Griffin Beauties took Charleston by storm. The girls went and showed up and showed out! We had 2 young ladies perform in the opening number Friday night and on Saturday night we had our first top 10 girl and a young lady bring home most photogenic. In December, The Griffin Foundation wrote and received a grant to host Shop Small Saturday in Historic Downtown Pageland. We created a Facebook Page and worked with business owners to promote and market the event and the shops. We co-sponsored with one of our title holders and a local business to host a Toy Drive. We collected over 300 toys on Small Business Saturday. On Dec 14th, we sponsored the PAGELAND CHRISTMAS PARADE! We had 3 bands, 15 professional floats, 18 homemade floats and lots of beauty queens! It was the biggest Christmas Parade in Pageland History. We continued our toy drive at the Parade with our pre parade presentation by the Pageland Racing Association of Pageland collecting delivering another 100 toys. The rest of December was dedicated to the incredible light and music show here at the house! We provided a snow show twice a week for kids of all ages to come play in. We easily had over 700 people come enjoy the show! We had such a wonderful time providing this show for Pageland. After Christmas we began our Coat Drive. We are collecting coats for people of all ages. We will work with local schools, the Pageland Police, Churches and other organization to provide coats to anyone who needs one. THIS HAS BEEN AN INCREDIBLE YEAR!!!! We have been blessed, honored and privileged to be able to participate in so many events here in Pageland and we are looking forward to doing even more in 2015!
