As we continue our weekly Lenten journey through the Stations of the Cross. We meditate today on the Passion in the 3rd and 4th stations. Station 3 – Jesus Falls For the First Time Station 4 – Jesus meets his Mother . We adore you, O Christ, and we praise you; because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world. In the 3rd station, consider the first fall of Jesus, His flesh had been torn by the scourges, his head crowned with thorns, and he had lost a great quantity of blood. Now, he staggers through the city, dragging the 300lb instrument of his death, marching in the line of those sentenced to die. Then in the 4th station Jesus meets his afflicted Mother. Considering the look between Jesus and Mary. He portrays their look as arrows wounding both their hearts. How difficult it is for a mother to lose her child! As we reflect on these scenes from the Way to Calvary, meditate on the pain and suffering we all experience in our in our relationships, be it husband-wife, parents-children, teacher –student – family, loved ones & neighbours . What pain do we bear because of LOVE? Ask Jesus and Mary, who know that pain intimately, to help and comfort each one of us as we walk the road of cavalry. May Jesus Crucified and Mary, Mother of Sorrows inflame our hearts with great love for God.
