As we discussed at our last meeting, the ECHS Bands and Band Boosters are sending care packages to soldiers deployed overseas. Below is a list of items that we are collecting for individual care packages for 25 single soldiers who are not receiving care packages from anyone. There will be a collection box in Ms. Amy Terrys classroom (Room 102) for donations sent during the school week. If you would like to bring donations to meetings or games, please give your contributions to Jamie Duncan, Nicole McCumbers, or Terri Naber. Since we are shipping each package individually, postage is going to be expensive. If you would like to donate money (in lieu of or in addition to items) that would be greatly appreciated, as well! Cash or check is fine (checks should be made payable to ECHS Band Boosters.) Here is the list of requested items - remember we are sending TWENTY TWO packages, so multiples are needed: Food items: Beef jerky Powdered drink mixes Dried Fruit Power Bars/Granola bars Microwave popcorn Microwave mac & cheese Sunflower seeds Hard candy Twizzlers Tuna fish packets (foil pouches) Instant noodles, soup Coffee Trail mix Hygiene: Baby wipes Hand sanitizer Deodorant (need for both men and women) Body lotion Sun block Toothbrush/Toothpaste Feminine hygiene products Lip balm Tissues Throat lozenges Eye drops Body powder Tums, Rolaids, Pepto Mouthwash Entertainment and Other: CDs and DVDs Books, Puzzle books, Crossword/word find books Pens, pencils, postcards Drawing pads, journals Magazines AA batteries Brown undershirts, socks All donated items should be new, unused, and in original packaging. In addition to these items, if you would like to send notes, letters, cards, etc., that would also be greatly appreciated. We will be sending a video of one of our performances, and it will include footage and photos of our kids thanking our soldiers for their service to our country. Due to the amount of time required for packaging and shipping, all donations must be received no later than Friday, October 10th. We will gladly accept last-minute donations at our Band Booster meeting on Tuesday, October 14th, as well. Your participation in this drive is completely voluntary and VERY MUCH APPRECIATED.
