As we enjoy the summer holidays I thought Id take this opportunity to say thanks to a few people on behalf of the club. Firstly thanks to all the coaches, Sean, Keith and Gavin. Everything individuals belonging to the club achieve owes a massive debt to the endless hours you guys put in. There are no Scotland stripes, medals or trophies without all your hard work and expert input. Second a huge thank you to all the parents. You spend more time than anyone should sitting in gym halls not just across Scotland but the length and breath of the UK. I know your offspring appreciate the time, money and emotion you invest in their fencing but just in case they forget to say thanks as much as they should well say it once more for them and the club. Thank you. Third. Someone once said youll never find a statue thanking a committee so they will have to make do with a Facebook post. The committee works tirelessly to keep the club ticking over and they deserve a well earned pat on the back. If you would like to join the committee just ask! We welcome everyone and would hope to see lots of you at the AGM come August time. So big thanks to Liz, Keir, Nigel, Mirja, and Rachel (who while she says she isnt on the committee comes to all the meetings and does lots!). Jo also isnt on the committee anymore but is always a big help! Gennaro is on the committee but gets a special mention as armourer for fixing the endless stream of broken foils, épées and body wires he is presented with. Thank you. Fiona isnt on the committee but also gets a special mention for keeping the website up to date with all your latest results and club news. Finally, the fencers. You all have our thanks for choosing to fence with and for us. From the smallest Wednesday night munchkin to tallest and quickest of our seniors, you make us proud whenever you set foot on the piste. We have had an incredibly successful season, which I will review in another overlong post ;). Thanks to you all for making it happen and I cant wait for next season with our own Holyrood Cup, the School games, the Commonwealth Championships and all the usual events to look forward to.
