As we head into the new year, I will be making a couple of changes to The Boxes of Love Project. The first change is that I will no longer be accepting used clothing/items. There are two reasons for this, and I hope you will all understand where this decision is coming from. The main reason is simply that I believe that foster children deserve it! They deserve a huge box of brand, NEW things! So often, foster children receive used items. Please know that I do not think there is anything wrong with this, and I know of, and support, several wonderful organizations that provide gently used items to children in foster care. However, for this project, I am going to be filling the boxes with all new items. For many foster children, this Box of Love will contain the first new things they have EVER received! The second reason is that I just do not have the time or space to sort through the used clothing. I have spent hours and hours going through bags of clothing, washing clothes and deciding what to do with clothes that do not make it into the boxes. I feel that my time can be better spent in filling the boxes and getting my volunteers organized and mobilized! I hope that you all understand this change and will continue to support the project in any way you are able! XO Lyndsee
