As we head through Sunday and into Monday morning, a storm system - TopicsExpress

As we head through Sunday and into Monday morning, a storm system will deliver snow and the potential for ice across the mid-Mississippi Valley and along and just north of the Ohio Valley, with snow to the north where much colder temperatures are in place. Once this system exits, things will begin warming up, but only for a brief period of time by around mid month. There are strong indications, though, that winter weather will return as we head toward the end of the month, potentially our strongest dose of winter so far this season. Things could turn very interesting, particularly, between the 21st and 26th of January and into February. The pattern set up appears to indicate a blocking high in Alaska which would open the door for several opportunities for winter storms and Arctic air, especially across the central and eastern US. As Ive said before, meteorology is a incredibly difficult science to study as the patterns change, variables change not only by day, but down to the hours, minutes and seconds and its our job to adapt to these changes, understand why they are changing, whats causing these changes and the impacts these changes will have on the overall weather pattern and localized conditions. Winter is far from over... and I have a strong feeling this warm up through mid month will only be a teaser...
