As we look at a new year soon ahead, it might be a good time to unclutter our lives a bit. We some time have let things get into the way of the relationship with the lord. We put our personal relations above the relationship with the Lord Jesus did say “If you want to be my disciple, you must hate everyone else by comparison--your father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters--yes, even your own life. Otherwise, you cannot be my disciple.” Luke 14:26 we seek a career, education, pleasing the world, nice cars, homes and the comforts of the world. Paul said it this way “And more so, I now realize that all I gained and thought was important was nothing but yesterday’s garbage compared to knowing the Anointed Jesus my Lord. For Him I have thrown everything aside—it’s nothing but a pile of waste—so that I may gain Him.” Philippians 3:8 all our worries, hurts, brokenness, hate, fears and failures are in the way. Jesus said, “When Jesus heard this, he said to him, You still lack one thing. Sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me. All that stuff gets in the way of our relationship with the lord” Peter said “Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about what happens to you.” The New Year is a time to unclutter our lives and to get a better focus on the lord. Clean out all the stuff that is keeping us from seeing Jesus clearly. “Stay focused on what’s above, not on earthly things,” Colossians 3:2 This song is a great one for starting the new year uncluttering our lives.
