As we look back over the year 2014, we are in awe of the blessings that God has so graciously bestowed upon us. A picture truly is worth a thousand words! Whether it is a picture of a goofy face, an exhilarating smile, or a deep thought, each one tells its own story. As a family, we have been blessed with so many stories to tell and so many memories to hold dear. The stories of 2014 will forever speak volumes to us. The beauty of snowfall early in the year reminded us of the purity of God’s love for us. Spring brought about wonderful outdoor fun…picnics, patio cookouts, fishing trips, Easter egg hunts with the family at MawMaw’s house, and much more. We went on our annual summer beach trip to Destin where we built sandcastles, ate sno-balls on the beach, rode the pirate ship, and had genuine fun with the family. In the fall, we spent the day at the pumpkin patch with our grandbabies, celebrated Thanksgiving with family, and celebrated our 34th anniversary early at Guntersville Lake. And, Christmas… was nothing less than awesome! If ever there was a year that was challenging and yet full of adventure, it was 2014. God called Joey back to Russell Christian Academy as the Headmaster, so out of retirement and back to work he went. It is such a joy to see how happy he is serving God through this ministry. I have been blessed to work with a dynamic group of people at the University of West Alabama. God recently paved the way for me to receive a promotion to Associate Professor. Our family has taught us so much this year. We are so proud of Hannah for completing her degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She truly has the heart to care for others. Her perseverance and hard work taught us to never give up, always work hard, and to do it with a smile on your face! Thank you, Jacob, for encouraging her every step of the way. Erin taught us a very different lesson…a lesson of how to praise HIM through the storm. Although she went through a very traumatic accident, she never stopped praising God. To Brandon, we are so grateful for never leaving her side as God worked miracles to heal her. We are so thankful that God chose us to be Erin and Hannah’s parents! Our grandchildren turned 3 years old in 2014! How in the world did that happen? They are growing up way too fast! Just looking through the pictures of 2014 we are able to see how they are quickly moving past being toddlers…not so sure we like that very much! And, I would be amiss to not express how blessed we are to have my mom, sisters, and brother-in-laws to share this life with. The Psalmist writes in Psalm 95..Come, let us sing to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song. For the Lord is the great God, the great King above all gods. In his hand are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to him. The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land. Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker; for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care.” So many memories to cherish…so much love to be thankful for…Yes, we are in awe of the blessings God has so graciously bestowed upon us! Happy New Year to all!
