As we move closer to that swimming suit time of year, the Douglas County Health Department has some important pool safety reminders for you. Any outdoor pool with a depth of 24 inches or more requires a permit from the Douglas County Health Department. Every in-ground outdoor private or residential pool must have a fence or wall at least five-feet-seven inches tall with gaps no wider than four inches. Every above-ground pool is required to have a four-foot high fence. All gates must be self-closing and self-latching and the latch must be at least 45 inches above the ground.
