As we observe the 70th anniversary of the Normandy invasion, CCHS would like to recognize the Chester County soldiers who participated in D-Day. According to D-Day historian Laurent Lefebvre, there were twelve. From the 1st Infantry Division: Frederick A. Frock, Calvin M. Smith, and William H. Wood (died June 7, 1944); from the 29th Infantry Division: John P. Fiore, Donald M. Guldin, Sherwood H. Hallman (died Sept. 14, 1944; Medal of Honor recipient), Clifford R. Henderson, and John N. Hughes (died June 6, 1944); from the 82nd Airborne Division: Erwin S. Atkinson, Joseph W. Bartholomew, Rinaldo A. Divalerio, and Harvey C. Underwood Jr.
