As we race towards Thanksgiving, this 11th day of November is another holiday where we paused and pay respect to the military veterans. I am thankful for all the veterans who gave a part of their lives either to fight for my freedom or to maintain my freedom. I am thankful so many of my family members were veterans. My father, who served in both the Air Force and the Army said that he had not done anything to be considered a hero in there, but I know that as a firefighter in the Air Force in Arizona that he had helped foam the runway for a belly landing for a VERY important person and that while in the Air Force in Alaska, he helped build screens for airplane propellers to keep birds from flying in them and causing the planes to crash. He and many others never saw combat but their contributions were important and, today, we pay homage to both them and to those who engaged in combat with the enemy. I salute and give thanks to all the veterans and their families.
