As we welcome in the season of Advent, this is one of the best known hymns of the season. For my Methodist friends, you might be interested to know (though probably not!) that out of his hundreds of hymn texts, this pairing of Charles Wesleys well-known Advent hymn text with the tune Helmsley (as sung here) is the only text/tune pairing that has remained the same since Wesley first published them - all of the other Wesley hymns are today sung to different tunes than what was originally prescribed for them. This hymn text today is also commonly sung to several other tunes as well as Helmsley. I dont know anything about this church - it is obviously High Church Episcopalian - Bells n Smells -, especially compared to the typical traditional Virginian Low Church Episcopal service.
