As we were driving home from Chambsburg, PA tonight, I worked there at an OB/Gyn office as a Maternal Care Coordinator, I was telling my husband that that job which I thought I really enjoyed, I have the worse memories of and the 8 years that I spent as an RN at Home Health Care where I thought I was truly miserable, I have the best memories. He said it is because HHC is what truly made me what I am. I had complete autonomy there. When I was in the home with the patient, I had to make the decision whether the doctor needed to be called if something new came up. I was the Nurse, the therapist in many instances, the dietitian, the teacher in every instance. I saw patients from OB to babies, Pediatrics all the way up to the old. I taught infant care to care of cancer patients. How a person can come out of that experience and not have memories, well, it cant happen. We are put into places and circumstances in our lives for a purpose. I had my purpose and I have my memories, good and bad.
