As were coasting to a red light on US1 in Glen Mills, PA a white work van rapidly approaches behind us, changes lanes, and abruptly comes to a halt. A tanned, salt and pepper haired man of around 50 hops out and hits a double biceps pose. Not knowing what the hell to think, I give him a thumbs up. No sooner does he leap back into the van, holds up a Yankee symbol, and motions for me to roll down the window. I comply, and he begins a conversation about professional sports acting as if hes never seen a NY license plate. Ive not been much of a sports fan, with the exception being the Mets. Though my support for them steadily dwindled after the 86 season. He made his disdain for the Mets clear, stating that he has no problem with them losing every single game. At this point, I was quite entertained, but had no interest in a Mets vs Yankees debate. As the light was about to change, we said parting fair wells. The van peeled away, barreling down the highway weaving lane from lane. And people have the nerve to call New York drivers crazy. This guy was headed towards Philly, so perhaps that explains things. A moment later, my 7 year old son says, Daddy, you know so many people.
