As were digging into the world of chapter books with our four-year-old, I find myself wanting to censor some of the words and ideas--like the salesman in Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory who is really fat and the baby in Harriet the Spy thats ugly. On one hand, it feels ridiculous to censor! On the other hand, I want to protect her innocence as long as possible. What would you do? (And what early chapter books would you recommend? Maybe were exploring books that are too old for her.)
