As weve mentioned many times in our posts, fosters truly are the backbone of our organization. They are the dedicated volunteers who train, groom and prepare our furbabies for adoption. They housebreak, they feed, they transport to photo shoots and attend events with their foster dog. They take them to radio appearances, they teach them to cohabitate with existing pets and they often times nurse them to health. The list GOES ON AND ON! We were lucky enough to find a foster who was willing to take one of our pit bull rescues who had been overlooked for adoption and had been in boarding for 1 year. Amanda fostered Annie for 3 months and fell in love and adopted her. She and her husband Steve went on to foster Maddie, Trudi and Jake. Maddie was a piece of cake, Trudi was a handful and Jake was perfect until he and Annie had a misunderstanding over a toy. This was, of course, a stressful event and shook the fosters. Did they throw in the towel? NO. They understood the reason for the scuffle and took note. That kind of commitment and dedication is extremely hard to find and we are SO grateful for Amanda and Steve. They fell in love with Jake (an adoption return who was in boarding), adopted him and he and Annie have been best friends since. They update us below: My husband, Steve, and I accepted Jake as our fourth foster dog and second dog to adopt. He had been adopted before, but unfortunately returned. We still cant believe anyone would ever return him. He has definitely brought a large personality into our home. He and our other dog, Annie, are now best friends. He is an indoor dog, but I think he feels his second home is the dirt. He loves sunbathing in the backyard and playing chase (It is quite entertaining watching my husband chase him around the yard). Jake only hates two things: Thunder and the mail man. We have both decided that if Jake could talk, he would constantly say, Im hungry. We think he may understand English because he does everything we say without any training on our part. He also lets us know that he wants to be petted by petting us in return. He has been a pure joy, and Steve and I are so thankful to Paws in the City for allowing us to care for and adopt him (and Annie too)! Happy Tails, Jake & Annie! Thank you so much to the Clark family. You are an astonishing example of dedicated fosters and our organization is grateful to have you. Best wishes to all!
