As with everything there are not only those that disagree but actually advocate the opposite...I am a dog trainer an animal lover etc...Okay we all remember Steve Irwin and how much flack he got once he became really well known for getting Too close to wildlife well turns out after he has passed even more shows get in close to wildlife...If thats so wrong why is everyone imitating his methods now? Cesar Millan gets the same flack...yet he truly is the only trainer I see that gets Positive results and never loses a client or has one put down. Dont be so critical folks dogs know who treats them right and a pack of over thirty rehabbed dogs would not willingly follow an abusive person. Just like politics people think they have to pick sides but you can go through history president by president and find faults...all these people with anti negative and anti abuse mantras actually have sorted issues with lost animals that they never gave limits to...too many treats not enough true love can result in a dog that doesnt truly respect its owner. No one person is the end all and be all in training but there are proven studies on pack behavior and for people to call that inherent part of our dogs makeup untrue is not only farcical its dangerous! The denial of a dogs primal makeup is Medieval Thinking. To be so caught up in popularity that you look past the truth is dangerous...Positive reinforcement is good for your dogs well being but structure is what every dog needs for survival and hitting that chord with your pet will produce much better results...Over 40 years of my life I have had dogs in my home and through observation and interaction I believe I can make this statement. DOGS ARE PACK ANIMALS AND LEARN FROM OTHER DOGS BETTER THAN ANY HUMAN TRAINER...I use Pack Therapy (my registered trademark) for training and it works PERIOD.
