As with other fancy shape diamonds there is no GIA cut grade for CUSHION cut diamonds. Unlike other fancy shapes there are much wider shape appeal & proportion preferences. There are antique & modern cushion cuts, square to rectangular shapes and the variation from one cushion cut to another can be great. There is no right or wrong! You should choose the cushion cut diamond that you LOVE while keeping in mind some basic guidelines. Be cautious of low clarity grades as the larger facets may not hide the inclusions - length to width ratio between 1.0-1.30:1 (1.0 being square & 1.30 being rectangular) - depth & table percentages between mid 50s & 70% (mid 50s - mid 60s being more ideal) - culet small to none (larger is often acceptable in antique cuts) - fluorescence none or faint. These are just recommendations, as always, consult with an unbiased expert BEFORE you buy!
