As yet I havent written a post on here although I have commented on several. Im not very good at explaining myself and normally have two baby boys swinging off me, but Frozen is entertaining them for a moment so I thought Id share a few thoughts. I cant speak directly for anyone but some people may be having the same thoughts as me, like what if the new school is great? What if the building itself isnt too awful aesthetically? What if it provides a good space for our children to learn in? A few people on here have said that they werent impressed by the current school building when deciding whether their children should attend - not being able to see out of the windows and bad access to outside space have been mentioned. I have been trying but cant find a document that was posted on here that had details for the EFA on what a new building should provide for the children. It listed all the important outside areas as things to be kept and even mentions moving the stone circle to somewhere else on site if it has to be moved. It also stipulates that all classrooms should have natural light and have access to the outside. Its worth a read. Im perfectly aware of what the other schools in this program look like, so please dont bombard me with images of them. Ive read as much as I can on here, Im aware of the budget and I cant say Im pro-rebuild either. Im just thinking aloud - what if? The issue I think everyone can agree on is that there should be communication and information. A couple of times its been suggested that anyone who might be pro new build is against the idea of a public consultation on the matter of refurb vs new build, but I dont think thats true at all. Anyhoo, Im sure there was loads more I wanted to say, but Frozen has worn off and the 10month old is trying to climb up my dressing gown.
